Let me start by saying that you don’t “need” any of these to get started with a yoga or fitness practice. The aim with this list is to show you what is on the market that you could potentially benefit from.
Trigger Point Foam Roller – There is limited evidence that foam rolling actually does something good for your body, but some people swear by it and find that by rolling on them it helps them loosen up sore spots, like a deep tissue massage. You can try it before doing exercise, as kind of a warm-up, or directly after.
Massage Ball Kit – These little balls get into to places where foam rollers don’t work so well. Tight knots in the shoulderblades, upper arms, ball of the foot, and so on.
Hand Grip Strengthener – This is a kit that does wonders for building up strength in your hands and wrists. Many kinds of yoga styles place a lot of weight on the hands and as a beginner the wrists often become a sore spot. With these tools you can build up tolerance without breaking a sweat. Use them as you’re watching TV!
Toe Separators – Love love love these! Feet that have been stuck in tight shoes all day will love this treatment. At first it might feel a bit unusual to have your toes stretched apart so the recommendation is to start wearing them for only a short time, and then increase. This is also a fun, small, and different gift for someone who has everything.
Knee Pad Cushion – We’ve all been there. Hard floor, thin yoga mat, knees ouch! This is a nice to have little extra cushion for the knees, but in reality you can also just buy a thicker yoga mat, or simply fold the mat once for extra padding.
Resistance Bands – You can do a lot with these, especially for home workouts. There are long and short bands, thick and thin ones with different resistance. Do a quick search on YouTube and you’ll find lots of exercise videos with ideas of how to use them.
Big Exercise Ball – Great thing to add to your home exercise equipment, but takes up a lot of space. You can practice your backbends on it, do a plank with your feet on it, or use it as an office chair.
